#i lol’d #but seriously though #can we talk about the incredibly skillful way bryan fuller is using the audience’s knowledge of the story #to make things that would be innocuous incredibly uncomfortable or terrifying #because like all these scenes of hannibal eating meat wouldn’t be nearly as intense as they are if we weren’t aware of anthony hopkins talki #*talking about eating someone’s liver with fava beans and a nice chianti #and a line like ‘i’d love to have you both for dinner’ wouldn’t be scary at all #but we do know so we are terrified #and fuller hasn’t even had to show hannibal actually killing anyone #hell he hasn’t even actually shown hannibal butchering a human #all the meat we’ve seen (even those lungs) could have been from animals but do any of us believe that it was? nope.
the dramatic irony in this show is a masterpiece
